Sally Martin

Sally is a handbuilder who creates naturally shaped pots that are both beautiful and functional. Her ceramics journey began at UCC back in 2001, and now she is properly stuck in - with her physiotherapy space recently transformed into a home studio. Complete with an old wooden desktop over her physio bed, she has always been one to make things up as she goes and experimentalism sits at the heart of her practice. Working with her hands comes naturally, and the pieces she creates are both unique and cohesive - held together by an earthy colour palette and dappled textures.

After spending months processing and working with clay dug up from the garden, Sally found her groove and began experimenting with different combinations of glazes, clay, and hand building methods. Throwing skills on the wheel are progressing. Everything is designed for use - your dishwasher will have no problem with them.
