About this Collection
The ancient and beautiful art of Chinese brush painting has a long and fascinating history. For over 3000 years Chinese artists, in line with the Taoist philosophy of the East, have portrayed the spirit of the natural world in inspirational and exquisite ways.
The focus of Chinese brush painting is to capture the object's essence and spirit, rather than painting an object or a scene as it is seen. I am drawn to this artform by its simplicity, harmony and unparalleled grace. Each brushstroke and where it is placed, as well as the spaces that are left empty are of utmost importance in Chinese brush painting.
A selection of my Chinese brush paintings will be on show and for sale at 'The Artful Duck' during Northamptonshire Open studios in September 2023.
