I am a primarily self-taught professional artist using traditional classical techniques in oils to produce my paintings. Based in Northampton, portraits and figurative work feature strongly in my paintings, although I also find inspiration from the light, shapes and colours of the landscapes I encounter, particularly in the underrated and beautiful countryside of Northamptonshire. Although I love using the classical techniques of painting from life, I also use a more contemporary approach to create my artistic vision. I will use digital media/photographs and my own imagination and sketches to produce my paintings. For me this is the perfect combination of the traditional and the modern approach to painting.
Currently President of the Northampton Town and County Art Society, I exhibit extensively in the county and my work is also held in collections outside the UK. I have exhibited in London and recently at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists.
I also conduct portrait and landscape painting workshops in oils which are designed to guide you through the process of creating your own portraits.
