I make collagraph prints using a variety of mark making and collage techniques. At present my work is small scale enough to print at home on a small press in my kitchen. Some of my prints are inspired by local landscape and buildings. Others draw upon sketching artefacts on visits to museums and galleries. I’m also experimenting with more abstract compositions of irregular shapes including using deconstructed boxes as plates and adding printmaking elements to recycled tickets. I'm also exploring imaginary landscapes in my printmaking.
There is an archive of my prints that can be seen on this page of my blog.
I regularly take part in collaborative projects both nationally and internationally. These include the annual TwitterArtExhibit, Sophie's Postcard, A Letter in Mind and #oneofmanypostcard and one offs such as the recent #printmakersgainstwar, the Ukraine Pavilion mailart project, #collagegarden and the Open Press Project Print Exchange 2022.
There is a chronological list of exhibitions and projects that I have taken part in on this page in my blog.
On the 4th August 2012 I started a challenge to make a drawing every day in the year leading up to my fiftieth birthday but when I reached 365 I kept going and have recently reached 3500 days of consecutive drawing. This has become a habit that I cannot break and I continue to post a drawing daily. The drawings are available to view on the main page of my blog, are tweeted daily (@JeanEd70) and posted on Instagram (@70jeanne). After posting so many drawings it is now possible for me to look back and identify some ongoing preoccupations or sequences of interest in certain techniques, materials or sources of inspiration.
