It’s so easy for us to take what’s around us for granted; the streets, buildings, and open spaces of our most familiar places. Often, they are so familiar that we don’t really “see” them.
A walk around my home town of Wellingborough early one foggy morning, caused me to see it with fresh eyes. The streets were deserted and the fog gave everything a mysterious and strange presence. I noticed the shapes, textures and tones around me in a way that I never had before.
My work has always been about light, space and atmosphere, and since that morning walk (and others more recently), I’ve become focused on capturing the personality and mood of the most mundane and overlooked urban places.
