Meet the Artist!
Alan began playing with clay in 2017 at the local Adult Education College and was hooked straight away, despite never having done anything artistic before. Throwing on the wheel did not appeal to him but he really enjoyed hand building. He loves experimenting with glazes and colours and his style is a little different. His favourite way to work is to roll a piece of clay and let it develop organically into a shape.
Previously he had his pieces fired in the college kiln but now has his own kiln and a studio in the garden. This has given him greater freedom and will allow him to be more experimental.
Working with clay takes him to his happy place and he just wishes he had discovered this wonderful activity years ago.

About
Hand-built ceramics, both ornamental pieces and functional items. Alan’s passion is decorating these with colourful finishes developed by combining glazes and using different methods of application to achieve unique effects.
