Janice Watson

After a break of more than thirty years, I returned to art five years ago and quickly rediscovered my creative voice. Much of my inspiration comes from long walks through the countryside just a stones throw from my home. The wildlife, wildflowers, and berries that bloom and grow, with their changes throughout the seasons offer an endless source of inspiration. These elements feature prominently throughout my work, I’m especially drawn to pairing animals with the magic of the British countryside, capturing the light, atmosphere, and occasional touch of folklore that shape each scene.

I work primarily in pastels, with occasional pieces in acrylic or mixed media when I feel like experimenting. My subjects vary - from British wildlife and big cats to pet portraits and expressive floral studies and I enjoy giving myself the freedom to explore different ideas.
