I have always dabbled in drawing and painting but after opening an Arts and Crafts shop 4 years ago with a friend I have jumped head first into the world of crafting. I fell in love with fused glass, initially drawn in by the vibrancy of the medium. It was a full on struggle to get started as I was self taught and had the smallest kiln possible with no programming facility. Fused Glass is not just about the creative side. There is a lot of technical knowledge involved in creating a piece. I love all of it, especially when I am creating the larger pieces that need thought and time, lots of cutting, grinding and playing around until I get the finish that I have in my head. I even enjoy the long wait to see if the piece has remained intact during the heating and cooling process. Opening the kiln is a little bit like christmas morning! I am also currently learning how to Lampwork hoping to be able to add more 3D details to some of my work.
