Beautiful and functional highly decorated stoneware ceramics

Meet the Artist!
ceramics and decorated stoneware ceramics.
My work reflects my love of wheel thrown and hand built forms and the beautiful natural
surfaces of burnished Raku ceramics . I particularly love the variety achieved with the
Horse Hair Raku technique which to me is reminiscent of
stone or marble. Each piece is burnished several times before firing giving them their
beautiful soft sheen and provides the background for the horsehair, sugar and feather applicatiobn.
My glazed stoneware references Bronze age Mediterranean ceramics with their graceful
shapes and joyful decoration depicting the natural world, particularly marine life. I
contrast the bright shapes with the sandy-buff clay also reminiscent of stone or sand.
