Louise Brook

Louise Brook (b. 1978, London) is a multidisciplinary artist, based in Northamptonshire. Louise creates abstract work from a place of curiosity, combining her love of learning and research with her artistic practice. Using storytelling and discovery she creates accessible narratives around complex themes, with the intention to inform and intrigue, sparking interest, curiosity, and conversation.

Recent collections have explored time, the cost-of-living crisis, biodiversity loss, and the evolution of human intelligence; a fascination with psychology, the complexity and layers of the human experience, and the beauty and fragility of the natural environment are all recurring themes.

Louise describes her artistic process as a dance between the intuitive and the intentional. Working predominantly with acrylics and mixed media, Louise creates depth and interest through rich layers and textural detail. Collage and layers are an integral part of Louise’s practice, creating intrigue, informing her narrative, and providing glimpses into the artistic journey.

With a background in Psychology from UCL (2000) and a successful corporate career before moving into the arts in 2019, Louise brings a thoughtful, analytical lens to her creative process. Since 2022, she has exhibited across major UK cities including London, Nottingham, and Banbury. Her achievements have been recognised through Awards including: Abstract Artist of the Year 2025/26, Prestige Awards, Central England; SAA Artist of the Year 2024 (Highly Commended); Women United Art Prize 2024 (Longlisted); and multiple Visual Artists Association and Visual Arts Open longlistings. In 2025, Louise completed the prestigious New Platform Art Professional Development Programme.
