These linoblocks generally fall into the reduction type so that successive layers are cut away until the final cut is made and the block inked up, often with the darkest colour last. Each new colour overlays previous colours so can be of varying degrees of translucency and this creates far more colours than just the colour being applied. I also use gradients of colour, especially for the landscape images as this also helps to create the illusion of distance.

The etching, 'Sussex Pastoral' is a recent return to intaglio work but using the same Downland imagery.
