I work as a painter and printmaker from my home studio in the rural village of Scalford, Leicestershire. Often these two disciplines are combined as I collage and layer my own handprinted papers into the work. My creative enquiry is driven by the observation of shapes, colours, texture and pattern and how I can bring these together in response to a subject, place or an idea.
I find that printmaking offers me endless possibilities for experimentation – exploring the variety of marks and textures that can be achieved with found materials and unusual tools, or discovering the possibilities associated with a new paper.
I studied Fine Art at Loughborough University and am currently a member of Leicester Print Workshop and Leicester Society of Artists. In addition to exploring my own creativity, I enjoy sharing my knowledge and enthusiasm with others. I offer regular printmaking workshops where I can draw upon previous teaching experience to support artists on their own creative paths.
