I've been a ceramicist for nearly 30 years attending Brunell University for specialist classes in throwing and mould making/slip casting. I then attended Richmond College to study Glass Casting 15 years ago. I now run my own ceramic and glass studio from my home.
In my ceramic work I specialise in throwing and slip casting and most of my work is highly decorative. I create my own silk screens and relief sprigs to decorate my work. I take inspirations from ancient ceramic forms, adding my own twist.
Glass Casting is where glass is melted into a mould in my kiln. There are many complex stages to achieve the final piece - I use the lost wax process, mould making and cold working (polishing). I specialise in Hollow Core Cast vessels (where in the interior is different to the exterior) and Pate-De-Verre.
Ceramics and Glass go hand in hand - borrowing techniques and inspirations from each medium.
I run one-to-one tutored classes for both Ceramics, Glass Casting and classes for up to four people in Glass Fusing.
