Wool is a truly magical medium to work with!
I paint pictures with wool fibres. Tweezers are my paintbrush, wool and other fibres are my paint. I build layers of wool fibres to create my pictures. Sometimes laying down one or two fibres at a time - they really do make all the difference.
Creating pictures with wool fibres is just magical!
Then once satisfied with what I have created I add soap and water and rub the fibres to agitate them causing them to hold together and become a fabric. All the time holding your breath. Hoping the hours you have spent putting the picture together are not lost in the soap, water and felting.
Felting is an age old craft. Wool is a versatile, magical medium. It is also naturally fire retardant, water resistant, it is a body temperature regulator so can actually be worn all year round.
Clothing can be fine, soft and supple not hard and scratchy as it is historically thought of.
The fibres I use for my wearable art are Superfine Merino fibres. Short staple length hence luxurious and soft to the skin. All truly unique and one of a kind x
