ABSTRACT PAINTINGS

A series of abstract paintings inspired purely by play.

I start with no plan except to play with paint from the heart and from what I am feeling in that moment.
I put the music on in my studio, close my eyes and make the first sweeping marks on the blank canvas. That gives me something to respond to and I am off.

Usually working with a limited colour palette, I like mixing my own colours and this way, it ensures harmony within the piece. (Though sometimes I like to disrupt that harmony with an unexpected hit of something bright and different.)

My paintings are multi layered, often with collage underneath that you may or may not see once the painting is finished. If I scribble and scratch through the layers, you might catch a glimpse of what lies beneath - maybe!
