Sarah completed a degree in textile design and worked as a colourist and print designer for several years before taking up her career in Education. Although not formally trained in the Fine Arts, she uses her knowledge of print and colour to create her own unique style. She travels to remote places with a sketchbook in hand, seeking out areas of solace and beauty for inspiration. Back in the studio, she works with collage and acrylics to anchor the emotions of a moment sketched.
"For me, painting is a time to focus on the awe and wonder of this beautiful planet without the distractions of daily life. A time to contemplate and value the simple things."
Her work is influenced by living on her houseboat and her work as a headteacher supporting children with Autism. When capturing a landscape, she is often drawn to its stillness and isolation. She paints to create a place for souls to rest.
Sarah has exhibited and sold at galleries nationwide and in September 2023, she received the RMAG award for the Open Studios Northamptonshire.
