Printed Flowers

A series of original linoprints and drypoints of garden flowers and seeds

My cottage garden is brimming with flowers that I often grow from seed. I am fascinated by their colours and forms, from buds to seedheads. As a printmaker, it is a joy to sketch and photograph plants, planning which shapes and markings will be carved and inked using lino as a substrate. My original drypoint intaglio prints celebrate the lines and intense details found in my garden beds. Once the flowers have gone to seed, I find the needlepoint tool is a wonderful way to capture those lines, using crystalline as a substrate, before running them through the etching press.
