Fresh Perspective Exhibition

This is a group of paintings heading to London in November 2024

I paint to show the patterns, and atmosphere we grow our food in, to evoke a feeling as we travel through the fields. To invite questions from the viewer regarding the land.
I am married to a farmer and by Living and working the land to produce food, I have seen the methods have changed enormously over the last 40 years, The patterns the machinery has left, the farmers jobs that have evolved, the farmer who is encouraged to grow more, reduce cost , use technology, change varieties, all have developed with the rest of the developing world, as demand for cheaper food has driven the need. As a result of the last 40 years of farming the soil has been exhausted. Working in unison with nature not against it, I believe we can all make the world a better place.

My landscapes are my language to show the results of modern farming, the patterns the farmers make on the land. The hidden conditions of the soils, the way nature is adapting to humans verses the way we have adapted to nature.
I like to create journeys, imply space and light. Invite the viewer to think about what is happening to our environment and our food the farmers grow. To enjoy the wonders of the environment and travel through the seasons.
Using colour to create a sense of space, glazes and texture in an abstracted way while remembering my thoughts as I walk across fields. I start my painting journey in the field, enveloped in a view which evokes memories from the farm. The breakfast conversations regarding the weather, the crops and the challenges all feed into my painting vision. I paint over time as we experience the seasons. The canvas dictates the challenges of the oil paint and I keep painting, stopping at the stage the memory is the strongest.
