experiments

These are drawings and paintings created plein air, in the wild. Exploring and playing with various media mostly experimental. These fill my books, and inform my studio work. Some of these images are photos of locations including the work that was created on location.

My bag is constantly full of drawing and painting materials and taken everywhere. My favourite locations are within walking distance of my home and I regularly stand on a bridge, painting the same bend of river and wild hawthorn trees on a disused railway line. I’m often joined by kingfishers and angry squirrels as I am in their spaces. I’ve been out in these locations in all weathers, rain hail snow, in bitter -10c where my paint froze, and then in full 30c in summer.
