Alyssa RobinsonCompetition entries

Embroideries specifically created in response to set challenges.

I belong to the Embroiderers' Guild and they set a challenge to all members each year to create a piece of embroidery up to 30cm square inspired by their chosen theme. Life's Rich Pattern, My Favourite Things, Exquisite Containers and In and Out of Lockdown have been the last four - generating between forty and a hundred entries each year. I enjoy the challenges - even if I don't feel inspired by the topic - and have won two, come second in one and am awaiting the results of the latest. Another piece was created for an exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham entitled Glimpses of the Islands - not a prize winner, but it was chosen to go on tour with the winners anyway.
Updated now to include The Yin to my Yang - awarded Most Outstanding Piece in the EG Challenge 2024 for the theme Opposites Attract and a depiction of a whole year's temperature data from my garden for the theme Colour Rhythms - results not yet published. Also A Colourful Life on the Bird Table which won best machine embroidery in the Madeira Competition at the NEC 2023.
