Catherine Matthews

Catherine Matthews B A (Hons) Fine Art is a painter and mixed media artist based in Kettering, Northamptonshire. Following her Fine Art degree from Staffordshire University, she moved back to Northamptonshire in 2001 to work as an artist.

Qualifying as an art teacher (PGCE Secondary) in 2004, she went on to teach art alongside her studio practice. Catherine has worked on some exciting public art projects including large scale murals at Kettering General Hospital, in local schools and in the community.

In the studio, Catherine experiments with traditional oil on canvas as well as other media, with an emphasis on drawn marks and color. Her work is varied in both subject matter and scale and has a decidedly rural feel.
