Linda studied fine art at Central Saint Martins School of Art (part of the University of the Arts London), specialising in sculpture. Since graduating with a BA(Hons) Fine Art in 2003 she has exhibited in London and across the UK, and is a member of the Royal Society of Sculptors (MRSS). She moved to Northamptonshire while she was at Central Saint Martins and has lived here ever since. Linda has had many sculptures included in public displays and has a permanent public art sculpture in Milton Keynes (part of the Gyosei Art Trail).
Her inspiration comes from the human figure, mythology, nature and science (particularly quantum physics). Linda works with found natural materials and metals (mostly wire) and sees her whole art practice as a kind of drawing - she sculpts a ‘form’ in plaster or clay, then works with lengths of wire to create ephemeral 3-dimensional drawings.
"I use line and space to describe nature and the body through multi-dimensional drawings, combining my interest in drawing and how line can depict form, with the spatial presence and materiality of sculpture. The starting point of my work is the natural world - what can be observed, but also what science (particularly physics/quantum physics) and ancient beliefs/mythology can reveal."
The sculptures are made using metal wire and found natural materials, capturing the energy of her intense art practice in the final sculptures, these appear fragile but are actually surprisingly robust.
