I’m a graduate from Nottingham Trent University in Fine Art with Foundation studies at Bolton College of Art in the ‘70’s. My work has been exhibited at Patchings, the Octagon Theatre, the Little Theatre Leicester, Leicester Arthouse as well as galleries in Thorsby, and Nottingham. I’m also a member of Leicester Sketch Club and Nottingham Society of Artists.
I experiment with painterly techniques, combining them with print, some computer drawing and mixed media to create visual stories about simple things focusing on the world around me from garden to landscape. My work ranges from small and intimate, some pieces only 10 cms sq., done with the intention of sharing the atmosphere and sense of place. I also enjoy making larger scale pieces based on local landscape, seasons and weather, affording me the opportunity to play with light, colour and pushing materials to create textures and atmosphere My work is unashamedly decorative and colourful, the aim is simply to be joyous.
