Sarah Showers is a Textile Artist whose primary source of inspiration is a sense of place. Working entirely in abstract forms she uses colour as the starting point of the creative process. Dyeing and printing her own fabrics gives her a palette of more interesting colours and importantly textures in the fabric.
She is driven to stitch, using her images and notes about place to kick start the creative process. Her work utilises pre used textiles and her own dyed and printed cloth. Decorative elements are often a feature of completed pieces.
Sarah likes to wait until very late in the creative process before determining how the piece should be presented. This is often influenced by the appearance of work under glass which can detract from the texture of the work.
Her work has been exhibited locally, around England in Europe.
Sarah has a website: http://www.sarahshowers.com/blog.html
In it she uses her Blog to explore the creative process and gallery pages to showcase her work and its development over time.
Sarah has a presence on Instagram; Facebook and Threads.
