"What do you see? What do you feel?" conveying the experiences and emotions of an individual and society through storytelling art. To reveal a sad tale with smile, an ugly fact with a beautiful truth.
My work is designed to find what lies below the surface, carefully placing chosen objects to unfold more than what is initially expected. Full of colour and complexity, each piece begins from wanting to pass on a narrative, it could be how I feel at seeing something on the news, to highlight something we all experience, or even to tell a person's story beyond the initial appearance. Even still life is selected to be different from what we expect.
Knowing what I wish to communicate, I start to think of imagery related to this and from those I create a photo montage as a drawing reference - the medium pictured when the final image can be seen. For oils it adds a depth that seems both tangible but false, whilst drawings pull you more into the details of the image while removing you from its realism. Constantly evolving to challenge myself, whilst inviting the viewer to come along.
