I love to find the beauty and simplicity in the natural world around me and I’m often influenced by shapes, textures and the patterns I see. I endeavour to bring these elements into my designs to create pieces which are both beautiful and enjoyable to wear. I am often inspired by the materials themselves as I play and create through my design process, enjoying the natural evolution of a collection and I find it is this playing which often brings about new ideas and directions for my work.
You can often find me in my home studio sawing, hammering, heating, soldering and polishing. I like to combine copper and silver in some designs, playing with their individual characteristics to emphasize the texture and beauty I want to capture in a particular piece. Some designs also incorporate semi-precious stones giving pastel shades or pops of bright color to complement the design I have created.
I enjoy attending artisan fairs to meet both customers and fellow artists, chatting about and selling the pieces I have created. I also love teaching jewellery making workshops, sharing that joy of playing and creating, the pride of making something yourself and the social side of sharing that experience with like-minded people is so important to our wellbeing.
