Clive Manning

An artist and printmaker based in Northamptonshire, Clive creates relief prints and line drawings. He has a love of the landscapes and countryside of Northamptonshire and also of the coast of North Norfolk which inspires much of his work. He works from drawings and photographs made on location, which are then subsequently translated into finished drawings or prints.

Clive has a special interest in linocuts, a method of relief printmaking using linoleum. The design is cut into the linoleum surface with specialist, V-shaped or gouge tools, with the raised (uncut) areas representing a mirror image of the parts to show printed. When completed the surface of the linoleum sheet is inked using a roller and an impression taken on paper using a Victorian book press c1890.
