I have had a love of sewing and textiles since my school days. I hold a degree in textiles from Manchester in the 1980s and completed the City & Guilds programme in Design and Embroidery to Diploma level in 2011.
I endeavour to keep my work fresh and contemporary to reflect a love of experimenting with new ideas and techniques. I love to incorporate mixed media into my work and also enjoy the challenge of working with recycled materials, denim jeans and teabags in particular! Much of my work is now presented in hand made books, (both fabric and paper) which affords me more room to continue to experiment.
Late Summer into Autumn has become my Eco-printing time of year when I gather assortments from the garden, leftovers from the cooking (mainly onion skins) and try to preserve on paper, the amazing patterns and textures that nature provides.
I teach regular workshops and give talks about my work to various groups.
More recently I have started writing tutorials and projects for Stitch magazine.
