I have been a chainsaw artist for some 16 years now. I carved mainly wildlife trying for a level of realism that got me to competition standard both here and in the USA. There followed many commissions in local Parks for sculptures, benches and chairs. Its been a fun roller coaster ride of highs and lows but the time has now come to focus on making smaller wood carvings and taking them to the next level.
So my large size chainsaw carving is now scaled down into smaller more abstract sculptures and I am learning how to insert ceramic and glass pieces to hopefully plough a totally unique farrow. I am indebted to the expertise and creative talent of Sally McRae for her help with my glass art journey.
New for 2024 Fluid Art or Acrylic Pour Painting:
I have re-discovered an interest in Acrylic Pour painting. I did a course at the super Vitreous Art studio with a talented tutor, Hazel Beckett. A period of intensive study, experimentation and research on You Tube followed whereby I honed my particular style in this discipline. Yes it isnt all random! :-) What I love about this style of painting is the way each creation is totally unique and cant be replicated even by the original artist!
It occurred to me that I have always been fascinated by moving paint around and merging colour. As a former primary school teacher I would get the children creating art by blowing through straws to spread puddles of paint. I little knew at the time that by also gazing at prism patterns on coloured bubbles and oil slicks after the rain, I would coalesce all these experiences and ideas together into exhibition grade Fluid Art.
