My names Mark, I'm a paperartist and teacher.
I grew up in Leicestershire and studied Art at the University of the West of England in Bristol. I moved to London to train as an art teacher and worked there for ten years before moving back to the Midlands. I now teach in Wellingborough and continue my art practice.
Papercutting is a slow process, but i enjoy treating my work like a drawing, working freehand and gradually building up- or excavating- an image in the paper. On my MA i specilised in woodcut prints, and the joy of paperart is that you have the same bold marks but you can be more expressive in executing them.
