I'm a retired Physicist/ Engineer and I like to bring my scientific approach and knowledge of optics into my photography. I like precision as well as abstraction. In my portfolio you will see images captured using a home made harmonograph - I think this is the first time such a machine has been designed and built specifically for photography and it can produce beautiful, etherial images, both simple and complex. There are plenty of examples in my Harmony of Light gallery. The harmonograph project combined many of my interests and passions, including Photography, Art, Music, Engineering, Physics, Woodwork, Optics and Electronics; this still excites and amazes me. I often try and demonstrate this at exhibition venues. I am happy to share and talk about techniques I have developed and often write them up as blog posts on EPZ.
I have recently had a solo exhibition at Abington Park Museum, entitled Beyond Photography. This was awarded to me by NOS last year on the basis of my exhibit in Blisworth. Having the solo exhibition was an amazing experience - selecting and preparing more than 30 images and curating them in a beautiful well-lit open gallery was an honor and pleasure!
