CATEGORY: Porcelain Stoneware
METHOD: Throwing
COLOUR: White
FIRING RANGE: 1000c - 1300c
My pots are thrown on the wheel producing work suitable for that special occasion in porcelain stoneware making individual bowls and vases.
While still on the wheel some pieces are turned and burnished with damp leather to give a smooth surface, others when dry enough are sanded creating a rough or smooth surface ready for glazing.
My main output is concentrated on small to medium sized hand thrown pieces, when dry I bisque fire to 1000c.
The work is then glazed with either earthenware or stoneware glazes before the second firing.
Dot and I share workshop studio space in the old converted washhouse in our cottage garden.
I enjoy the whole process of making and firing and of course the anticipation of opening the kiln when it has cooled to inspect and critique the latest finished pots.
