I am an artist based in Market Harborough. I returned to painting about 13 years ago, following an absence due to work and family commitments. I studied with a local Northants artist a day a week for a couple of years. It was during this time that I found my preferred medium - oil paint on canvas. Since then I have continued to experiment and develop my style and I identified what I enjoy painting most - primarily the natural world and animals. I particularly enjoy painting trees as you might have guessed!
While sometimes my paintings take on a more realistic depiction of the subject matter (this is the case in my pet portraits) at other times my artwork is somewhat sentimental, responding to memories or imagined scenes.
I held a solo exhibition at Rugby Art Gallery and Museum in 2019 but then Covid put a temporary halt on momentum. Last summer I was excited to take part as a Wildcard in the Sky Arts series Landscape Artist of the Year - a wonderful experience. The programme aired in January.
I have opened my art studio as part of Northants Open Studios and have also exhibited at Lamport Hall, where I will be exhibiting again in September 2024. I recently took part in an exhibition with three other artists at Boughton House near Kettering.
I also have a selection of paintings for sale at the Left to Draw Studios gallery at the Waterfront in Market Harborough.
