Katy works from her art barn in Northamptonshire. Her paintings are often mixed media where she combines handmade collage papers, acrylic paint, acrylic inks and printed elements on wood panel, canvas or high quality paper.
She often makes her own gelli printed papers which form a patterned layer under her work, which may peep through. Design, composition and texture of a painting are very important to Katy. She often uses a limited colour palette to interpret her ideas. Her mixed media pieces including collage are sometimes specially sealed and are framed without glass so the surface texture is more visible.
Katy has a range of different styles she has developed to interpret her ideas which range from muted to more vibrant colour palettes . Her subject matter can be still life, landscape or seascape with an emphasis on simplification of the design. While the result may appear bold and simple a lot of thought has gone into the layering and choice of colour and the overall design.
Katy has won awards for her art and has a was awarded Highly Commended for her painting at the Network Arts Exhibition in Wellingborough in 2023. Katy is a recently voted in member of the Northampton Town and County Art Society, exhibits her work regularly at the Eagle Gallery Artist Cooperative in Bedford and was selected to display two art works at the Rugby Museum and Art gallery in January 2024.
