To learn new skills, make, design and create have always brought me great satisfaction and joy.
In 2018 I began painting again, first with watercolours and then oils. Recently, I have been using a technique which involves mixing oil paints with cold wax. Several colours are layered on to the specialist paper or wooden boards.
Then I blend and cut through them, while they are still wet, exposing the different colours and working spontaneously with the effects this creates. It has completely changed how I paint.
My landscapes are inspired by the beauty of the Northamptonshire countryside and the stunning Cornish coastline. The oil and cold wax technique has allowed me to paint in a much more abstract style.
I always strive to represent light and to instil a sense of peace and calm in my paintings.
I was born in Kent and schooled in Nottinghamshire. I studied in Manchester and then moved to Northamptonshire to teach deaf children. I now enjoy retirement, family and my art.
