My name is Katy and I live in a little village on the Northamptonshire/Leicestershire border. After graduating in 2D hand-drawn Animation from the Bournemouth and Poole College of Art and Design (now the Arts University Bournemouth), I have been working as a freelance Illustrator and workshop provider since 2007.
My work covers a huge range of subjects including book illustration, printed/hand made greetings cards, cartoons, comics, designing/making soft toy prototypes, murals and teaching Art workshops to primary school children. I have been/am very fortunate to work with a number of high profile clients, Publishers, individuals, organisations and Charities on a variety of projects from books to Public Art Sculpture Trails.
Working daily as an Illustrator and particularly at NGS Open Gardens open days, has fed my great passion for paper, textiles and organic natural materials- anything that I can use as a canvas- from on its last legs, very very old dictionary paper, scrap wood and organic matter (Im currently working on a beautiful piece of birch bark), all have led me to some very exciting discoveries.
In my spare time, I can often be found reading, dreaming or outside walking, gardening or sketching in either the surrounding fields, or closer to home in my gorgeous garden. Since moving to the Midlands, I have been lucky enough to just go and absorb this beautiful countryside, always finding a little bit of magic wherever I go.
I am always happy to discuss any ideas, commissions or briefs you may have- look forward to hearing from you!
