I have been making work with dyed, printed and embroidered textiles for over 15 years after completing a degree in Fashion and Textiles at Leicester Polytechnic. Building layers of color and texture, adding detail to tell a story is important to my work and I like to incorporate an element of vintage reference to my personal work: inspired by a family member, ephemera I have collected, a piece of writing that inspires me, or a simple walk.
Over lockdown, I was able to explore eco dyeing and printing with online workshops and just time to play with new ideas. I am planning a site-specific collection of flags for 78 Derngate in Northampton and a collection of eco-printed and embroidered pieces in a gallery setting in Wellingborough. I am really looking forward to this new work.
