I came to creativity late in life and am now playing catch up. I create with textiles, paper and other mixed media using old and new techniques which I mix, adapt and experiment with. I enjoy recycling/repurposing materials to create something out of nothing.
In my peer group, I'm the one who picks up others throw aways as my treasure and am known as a bit of a magpie (sparkly and bright items) mixed with squirrel (a hoarder). Inspiration comes from many sources: internet, literature, exhibitions, travels to off the beaten track places. These influences eventually percolate through into my creative process which is very intuitive rather than planned and translates into an eclectic mix of items: pictures, bags, scarves, jewellery, greeting cards, art books and other items.
I am a member of Lutterworth Stitchers and a small group called BookArt that creates art books. The money from any sales of my work goes to a cat rescue charity.
Currently working on several art books: Frida Khalo (this is my second), Venice, India, Eco dyed papers with pressed plants and vintage pictures. In train, as an idea, is a Boro decorated denim shirt using vintage kimono pieces.
While my galleries do not currently show which items are for sale, some are, and I will be updating this in the forthcoming future. In the meantime, if you are interested in any of the items please contact me.
